KUCHING, June 14 — The Kuching’s Got Talent competition will be making a comeback in July, said Kuching South mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

He said talents of Kuching and Sarawak can now register for the competition, which is being held in conjunction with the Kuching Festival 2026.

“We welcome people with various talents to participate in Kuching’s Got Talent 2026 and showcase their skills,” he said during his Facebook live session ‘Shall WEE Talk’ on Saturday.

Wee said this year’s Kuching Festival will be officially launched on July 22, with some side events scheduled for an earlier date.

“This includes Kuching’s Got Talent competition, which has already begun its registration process. We hope everyone will participate enthusiastically, allowing more people to see the many outstanding talents in Kuching and Sarawak,” he said.

Registration for Kuching’s Got Talent 2026 closes at 4.30pm on June 23.

Individuals who are interested in competing are encouraged to complete their registration as soon as possible.

According to Wee, this year’s competition offers several categories, including cultural and classical dance, modern and street dance, and singing, providing a platform for people of different ages and talents to showcase their skills.

The preliminary rounds will be held from July 4 to 5 at the Kuching South City Hall (MBKS) Auditorium.

The singing competition is divided into three categories: Junior (6-12 years old), Youth (13-18 years old) and Open (19 years and above).

Wee disclosed that the semi-finals are scheduled for Aug 15, and the grand finale will be held on Aug 16, the last day of this year’s Kuching Festival.

He hoped that this event will help unearth more local talents, bring about vitality and excitement to the festival while allowing both locals and tourists to enjoy excellent performances. — The Borneo Post
