KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 – The Usaha Tegas Heritage (UTH) Art Competition marked its 25th anniversary by celebrating 21 young artists whose works reflect Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

This year’s theme, “Malaysian Intangible Cultural Heritage,” drew 224 entries from 26 institutions nationwide. Top winners include Oon Zheng Yeow (Charcoal/Ink/Pencil), Jonsen Choong Zhe Yi (Watercolour), Ivy Thor (Oil/Acrylic), Nasrin Nadhirah Binti Suhaidi (Mixed Media), and Ahmad Afiq Bin Ahmad Faris (Printmaking).

Founded in 2001 by the late Ananda Krishnan, the competition has become one of Malaysia’s longest-running art platforms, inspiring thousands of students to preserve cultural identity through art.

The event also featured inclusive initiatives, such as Braille books and a soundscape tribute titled “Malaysian Songbirds.” Winners received cash prizes, trophies, and certificates.
