KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 — A local convenience store franchise owner was taken aback by the honesty of a former employee.

The owner of the MY Station convenience store in Perak, Shahul Hamed Sanudin took to social media to share how a former employee returned money that was taken from the cash register, leaving a letter to Shahul apologising for their past actions.

“Salam to Boss Hamid, I used to work here and I took some money from the cashier previously.

“Now I’m returning the money I took. I apologise for my past actions,” the former employee wrote.

Shahul shared a photo of the letter along with some RM50 notes and thanked the former employee for their honesty.

“Please don’t do it again,” Shahul also wrote in his post.

The businessman via another recent Facebook post pointed out that he had accepted his former employee’s apology and congratulated them for owning up to their mistake.

“To my ex-staff, I’ve accepted your apology. I’m impressed by your action, not everyone can do the same as what you did.

“Congratulations young man!” he wrote in the post.

Shahul’s initial post garnered the attention of local social media users.

Social media users left comments applauding the former employee.

“Alhamdulillah for his honesty. Maybe he was in a tight spot at the moment,” commented Facebook user Mohd Zamri.

“A great person indeed,” commented Facebook user Danalis Khabi.

“His honesty should be admired,” Facebook user Faiz Fairuz commented.
