KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 — A Malaysian university lecturer is going the extra mile to check on his students who skip his lessons — by visiting them at their hostels and rented homes.

Hisyam Che Mat shared on TikTok that he first visited the students’ rented home in Bandar Baru Klang where two of the eight occupants skipped class.

Hisyam said he decided to take the drastic step as half of his class did not turn up on that day.

“Hence I am visiting them to check whether they are well,” he said in the clip.

Besides visiting male students, Hisyam also checked on female students who skipped his class.

In a clip, Hisyam questioned two girls for missing lessons when they stayed on campus.

“Your friends who do not stay on campus still attended class. So you want to continue sleeping? Want to go on a three weeks holiday until Raya?” he said, adding that he would mark them as on holiday and would see them after Hari Raya.

Responding to queries from TikTok users, Hisyam said he decided to check on the students as many did not turn up for his class.

He added it was his duty as an educator and would not compromise on students who skipped class, noting that he had been doing it since the year 2000.
