PETALING JAYA, Oct 13 — Looking for your fill of ghouls and goblins for Halloween this month, but tired of the usual parties?

From haunted houses to child-friendly experiences, get your dose of Halloween chills at these spooky-themed events.

Spine-tingling concerts at KLCC and Klpac

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will be serving up a selection of eerie classics as part of its Halloween Spooktacular happening on Oct 29 at Dewan Filharmonik Petronas in KLCC.

The concert features conductor Naohisa Furusawa with a set list that includes Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, the main theme of The X-Files and The Calling from Poltergeist.

The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (Klpac) in Sentul, KL will also play host to spooky musical delights with the Halloween Hantu Ball 2 from Oct 28 to 30.

Featuring the 62-man Klpac Symphonic Band, the event will see an 85-minute lineup of music from movies and musicals, including Dance of the Knights from Romeo and Juliet and Danny Elfman’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Kid-friendly thrills at Legoland’s ‘Brick-or-Treat’

Parents might be interested in Legoland Malaysia’s Halloween offer: the promise of free entry for children aged three to 11.

Every weekend till Nov 6, children fully dressed in Halloween costumes will gain free entry to the Johor-based theme park, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Throughout October, guests can expect themed decoration, game stations and roaming entertainment by way of stilt walkers and performers dressed up as monsters.

Legoland will also be launching its latest 4D movie experience, The Great Monster Chase!, where a group of tweens have to escape monsters after infiltrating a monster-only party.

Haunted house with a twist

It’s Halloween all year round at Hauntu’s unique pairing of the haunted house experience with the puzzles and gameplay of escape rooms.

Located at The Linc KL, this “theatrical horror experience” features real actors, lifelike set pieces and mazes connected by a story about a mysterious colonial hotel.

Visitors have the opportunity to role-play characters of the overall story, and the way they play can determine how the tale will end.

Tickets to the 60-minute experience cost RM61 per player, with a maximum of 10 players.

Nature lovers keen on a more low-key affair might find camping an attractive alternative to crowded city events.
