NEW YORK, Sept 22 — Erin Solari’s grandparents, Howard and Laura, have been married 73 years.

Solari captured an incredibly tender and heart-melting moment between the couple while by Laura’s side at a hospice facility, where her grandmother is making peace with her final days.

In the video, Howard sings Laura “You’ll Never Know”, as performed by Rosemary Clooney and Harry James, said to be Laura’s favourite song as it comforted her when Howard was away during World War II.

"At family gatherings, it was not uncommon for the two of them to sing this song together, each taking a verse and serenading the other," Solari wrote. "In fact, after 50 years of marriage, they renewed their vows and performed this song as a duet for the entire family at the reception. Sadly, Grandma is now too weak to sing, but that doesn't stop her from saying the words to him."

We love how Laura, though she cannot see much of anything but shadows and light (due to macular degeneration), looks deep into her lover’s eyes throughout Howard’s serenade.
