SINGAPORE, April 29 — Japanese cheese tart phenomenon Bake opened for business in Singapore today.

And as has been the case in other parts of Asia, the queue on the first day started early — at 8:15am, almost two hours before the shop officially opened.

The Hokkaido brand’s first outlet in Singapore is located at B4 of Ion Orchard.

According to The Straits Times, the queue stretched to more than 30 patrons all keen to sink their teeth into the mousse-like cream cheese filling and crisp pastry.

Even being told that they would have to wait a while longer after the store opened failed to deter them.

A Bake Cheese Tart representative told the newspaper that 4,000 tarts had been prepared for opening day in anticipation of the demand.

Customers, however, are limited to 12 tarts each. They cost S$3.50 (RM10.20) each or S$19.50 for a box of six.
