KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 — I'm a big fan of roti canai for breakfast.

If it's fluffy and garing or crispy so that it has tiny, flaky bits, I am in roti canai heaven.

Usually I just prefer my roti canai plain with a glass of creamy teh tarik. I am the type who doesn't like to flood my flatbread with curry or even dhal as that means I don't get to taste it.

However, I make an exception for this place at Alam Damai as their mutton curry is really flavourful. I discovered this place through a friend via social media.

You walk in and discover a line of cooks just pressing, flipping and pulling the dough to prepare the roti canai.

It's self service here so walk up to the counter to place your order. They will prepare it straight away and you pay for it. Just grab the plates with the food and look for a place to sit. Your drinks will be from another counter.

There's also an array of assorted kuih on the table for you to select from. The variety is mind boggling. There's lompat tikam, kuih nona, kuih cara, various kuih talam and many more to tempt you.

Across from the drinks counter, you can help yourself to nasi lemak, fried noodles, lontong and various cooked dishes.

The star is definitely that magical combination of crispy roti canai with the fragrant curry. The added bonus is the tender meat that slides off the bone, when you pull it apart with your fork and spoon.

Savour every bit of that gravy packed with flavour and drench your roti canai with it.

The curry is RM15 for two generous chunks of meat and the flavourful curry. There's also chicken curry too but the highlight is the mutton version. Your roti canai kosong is RM1.20. There's also roti telur available.
