IBIZA, July 16 — The Italian designer has opened his latest project, a harbour-side lounge and restaurant on the Spanish Mediterranean island of Ibiza.

Roberto Cavalli is mixing up his interest in fashion, food and design to open his first “restaurant” location, an open-air eatery featuring a 2,000-square-metre tropical garden stuffed with fragrant jasmine, honeysuckle and magnolia, as well as an adjoining bar/club and lounge space.

“I wanted to communicate all my passion for beauty and sensuality combining them in a hospitality project in Ibiza,” explained Cavalli.

The food concept is Tuscan-influenced with a wine list including the Tenuta Degli Dei red which is produced in Italy at a winery owned by the Cavalli family. The total Cavalli immersion doesn't stop there, with the club and lounge also featuring the designer's own vodka. Decor is equally on-brand, with zebra and jaguar print fabrics alongside different florals and soft furnishings from the Roberto Cavalli Home collection.

The fashion label already has “Cavalli Caffè” locations in Florence, Saint Tropez, Kuwait, Beirut, Dubai and New Delhi, and will open more in the Middle East this year. The trend for luxury brands to branch out into restaurants follows similar investments in hotels (Armani and Bulgari) and café or dining locations (Gucci's caffés in Tokyo, Florence and Milan; Armani's ristorantes and caffés around the world; Dior's summer eatery in Saint Tropez; Ralph Lauren's eateries in Chicago and Paris; Condé Nast's Vogue Café; and the Kitsuné Café in Tokyo). — AFP-Relaxnews
