JAKARTA, July 19 — Five people who went missing after the KM Nurul Salsa vessel sank off the coast of Indonesia’s South Sulawesi province were found alive on Saturday after surviving four days at sea, the country’s search and rescue agency said Sunday, reported Xinhua.

The survivors were rescued near Matallang Island after being spotted by a passing fishing vessel.

They survived by staying afloat and holding onto a fish aggregating device used by local fishermen, according to the agency.

The five survivors have received medical treatment and undergone further assessment, said Muhammad Arif Anwar, head of the Makassar Search and Rescue Office.

The search for the 20 people still missing was continuing, with additional vessels and personnel deployed from search and rescue offices in Kendari and Maumere to reinforce operations across an expanded search area, he said. — Bernama-Xinhua
