Beijing denounces US-Nato Greenland deal as excuse for ‘selfish gain’

BEIJING, Jan 22 — China’s ​foreign ministry said ‌on Thursday that “the ‍so-called China threat” was groundless ‌in response to Nato saying negotiations ‍on Greenland with the US are aimed at ensuring Russia and China never gain a foothold in ‍the ‍island.

“China opposes the ​practice of creating something out of nothing and using China as ‌an excuse for selfish gain,” Guo Jiakun, ‍a spokesperson for ‌the ‍ministry, said ‍at a press briefing. — Reuters
