TOKYO, Dec 28 — A wolf escaped its enclosure at a zoo in western Tokyo today, sending visitors scrambling for safety inside buildings and other secure areas, the operator said.

Kyodo News reported that Tama Zoological Park in Hino said a zoo attendant spotted the animal on a public pathway shortly after the park opened at 9.30am.

Officials later confirmed that the European wolf was “still within the zoo grounds”.
