LUXEMBOURG, Oct 16 — US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen today expressed confidence that the US Congress would approve additional support for Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s invasion, despite opposition from some Republican lawmakers.
Yellen told reporters after a meeting with euro zone finance ministers that President Joe Biden would submit a supplemental funding request for both Ukraine and Israel "as soon as we have a functional House of Representatives”.
"Is there some opposition in Congress? Yes there is,” Yellen said at a press conference. "But there’s a strong bipartisan majority in favour of this. It is the president’s top priority and I absolutely believe that we will get this done.” — Reuters
