SINGAPORE, Feb 26 — Six women aged between 19 and 40, and a 59-year-old man, have been arrested for employment-related offences during an operation conducted against public entertainment outlets yesterday.
Police officers had conducted a series of enforcement checks on public entertainment outlets located along Beach Road and Tras Street.
The operators of the entertainment outlets had allegedly employed foreigners without work permits, an offence under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act.
The women are believed to be from Thailand and Vietnam.

Stricter requirements and harsher penalties were enforced on errant public entertainment outlets last year.
The maximum fine for operators of public entertainment outlets without a licence, for example, has been doubled from S$10,000 to S$20,000 (RM29,644 to RM59,288).
In an earlier enforcement operation on February 15, 13 women were arrested for working without a licence at a public entertainment outlet.
In a statement, the police said that it will continue to take a tough enforcement stance against such activities. — TODAY
