SINGAPORE, Feb 13 — A 48-year-old woman had to be taken to the Tan Tock Seng hospital yesterday after a fire gutted the lift landing on the 8th floor of Blk 5 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh.

The police said the case was one of "mischief by fire”, and added that investigations were underway.

The fire involved discarded items, the Singapore Civil Defence Force said, and it was extinguished using a compressed air foam backpack.

TODAY understands that the woman, who has a history of asthma, resides on the same floor where the fire broke out. She reported feeling breathless, and was conscious when she was taken to the hospital.

When TODAY arrived at the scene at 2.50pm, technicians were seen repairing the electrical wires that were damaged during the fire.
