SINGAPORE, July 6 — A 44-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty on a train, the police said in a statement this morning.
The suspect was allegedly caught on video by a commuter, who was standing in front of him, inappropriately touching the thigh of a young female passenger seated beside him.
The video, which was first posted on Sunday on Facebook, subsequently went viral, with netizens chiming in with their criticism.
According to the police, they were able to establish the identity of the suspect with the help of a tip-off from a member of the public and arrested him at Hougang Mall on Wednesday.
Investigations are ongoing.
Anyone convicted for the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 is liable to be punished with imprisonment of up to two years and/or with caning. — TODAY
