SINGAPORE, Dec 6 — A 45-year-old lorry driver has been arrested in connection with an accident that killed a male motorcyclist and injured two others at the Second Link towards Tuas Checkpoint this morning.
The accident, which involved a lorry and two motorcycles at around 5am, caused a massive jam in the area before traffic returned to normal at about 8.30am, according to the authorities.
The lorry driver, 45, has been arrested for causing death by negligent act, the police said.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call at about 5.09am, and dispatched one ambulance to the location.
The 51-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead by the paramedics. Another male motorcyclist and his female pillion rider, both conscious and in their 30s, were also sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, added SCDF.
A police spokesperson said both suffered cuts and abrasions on their legs and hands. TODAY understands that they have been discharged from the hospital at about 11am.
It is unclear how the accident occurred. The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) first posted about the traffic accident at 6.39am on their Facebook page, warning motorists to expect delays.
