MIAMI, Jan 22 — A resident of the Florida Keys found a surprising visitor yesterday in his swimming pool: a more than 2-metre crocodile.

The Lower Matecumbe Key homeowner called the authorities to report the reptile, the local sheriff’s office said.

Experts at the state’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were brought in and “they assisted with removing the animal and returning him to his normal habitat in the ocean,” the sheriff’s office said on its Facebook page.

The incident follows another last week in which a woman found a 1.5-metre shark in her apartment building’s pool in Hypoluxo, Florida on the Atlantic coast.

How it got there is under investigation. — AFP
