Suspect in brazen Singapore robbery leads investigators to scene
Malay Mail

SINGAPORE, Nov 18 — One of the suspects in a brazen robbery at an open-air car park in Aljunied earlier this month led police investigators to a location believed to be one of the crime scenes this afternoon.

Malaysian Annadurai Raman, 42 who was dressed in a red polo tee shirt and a black pair of shorts, arrived at the car park of Block 125 Geylang East Avenue 1 at 3.20pm in a private car, accompanied by three investigators. Amidst a media scrum, he then led investigators to a walkway at the block, pointed at the floor of the walkway and was taken back to the private car.

The whole process took merely two minutes.

Today understands that one of the suspects was at this walkway, when the crime took place at a car park at Aljunied Crescent.

Three suspects have been charged in court so far. During the hearing last Friday, the court heard that eight men are believed to be involved in the robbery.

In the early morning of November 5, money changer Ali Yousouf Saiboo, 35, was robbed of S$600,000 (RM1.55 million) cash in various currencies at the car park. Ali was in his car when another car — with five men wearing ski masks — pulled up in front of him. One of the men acted as a lookout, while two others broke Ali’s car window with a metal rod. The remaining two men stayed in the car.

Annadurai was the first man to be charged for the robbery on November 8. He was also charged with voluntarily causing hurt to Ali, who was kicked in the abdomen during the robbery.

Two other suspects — Malaysians Tachana Moorthy Peromal, 28 and Ravi Sandhira Sagaran, 27 – were charged in court last Friday.

The three suspects are said to have robbed Ali at around 12.53am that morning. They will appear in court this Friday after the court granted a police request for the men to be remanded for another week to conduct further investigations.

If convicted of committing robbery with hurt, the suspects face up to 20 years in jail and at least 12 strokes of the cane. — Today
