SINGAPORE, Dec 9 ― Rescuers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were trying to extricate a body from under a bus as projectiles were being thrown at them, the SCDF said today on the riot that occurred at Little India.

The SCDF said they were received an alert to a road traffic accident at the junction of Race Course Road and Tekka Lane at 9.25pm.

“Upon arrival, there was a man trapped under a bus. An SCDF paramedic pronounced him dead on arrival,” said the SCDF.

A total of nine SCDF vehicles were damaged, while five vehicles were burnt ― one SCDF ambulance, three police vehicles and one motorbike.

The SCDF had also conveyed 18 casualties, including four SCDF personnel, to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. ― Today
