BELGRADE, July 9 — A Serbian man was audacious enough to bet that more than seven goals would be scored in the World Cup semi-finals in which Germany defeated hosts Brazil 7-1 and earned 60 times the amount he bet on.

The man, whose identity has not been revealed, can only regret that he made a bet for only €20 (RM86) and earned 137,500 dinars (RM5,182), the betting shop said on its website www.mozzartsport.com, in an article entitled “A Mad Ticket”.

It published a photocopy of the ticket on which it is seen that in a section on the number of goals, the bettor wrote “7 +”.

“An inhabitant of Serbia has 137,500 reasons to celebrate the sinking of Selecao. He felt that there would be more than seven goals and he was right, we can only congratulate him,” the Internet portal www.srbijadanas.com wrote. — AFP
