What You Think
We are watching you, Teng Chang Khim — Michael Kum
Malay Mail

SEPTEMBER 27 —This is an open letter to Mr Teng, past exco of SUK Selangor, who was part of the SUK Exco team who voted in favour of Kidex, in 2012. On behalf of the RA of Section 14PJ, we express interest in your new  appointment back as Selangor Exco.

We, the SNTK and anti Kidex movement, have been watching the Selangor Excos, ADUNs, and their actions, over this fiasco over the last 11 months, particularly yourself. Basically, the whole intention of this open letter, is to request in particular, YB Teng, that you keep your promise.

YB Teng, When PR took over Selangor in 2009, and subsequently in 2013, the Buku Jingga Manifesto clearly spelt out ,that core KPI’s, KRAs , are on abolishment of tolls, and no highways. SNTK the NGO, have proven with valid and quantifiable results ,that Kidex’s highway is not beneficial, and their grounds are not substantive to prove their value at RM2.4 billion.

We have noticed several patterns in your decision making. In the past, your actions have been pro Kidex, and supportive of the previous mentri besar.

Several members of SNTK, and others have publicly rebutted your statements that Kidex does not benefit the Selangor citizens, nor does it make fundamental economic sense, however, you declined to listen to the sentiment of the people.  You still went ahead to support the mentri besar’s actions, even if they were impractical, unjust, and totally unheeding the project’s ROI for the rakyat.

An article in The Star, by Sheila Sri Priya, written on Sept 25, “Kidex can Ease Crawl” looks at Bandar Kinrara’s standpoint. However, the bigger damage is the 14.9 kilometres outside Kinrara; in terms of social damage, and cutting away countless greenery.

The root cause is traffic congestion; and Kidex is not the answer. Better transportation models and seamless inter-connectivity by public transport, i.e. trains, buses, and point to point coverage in least wait time, is a way cheaper solution.

YB Teng, everyone knows, this is a project that will rake money for Kidex Sdn Bhd, and milk the tollpayers for next 40 years. The route itself, is not useful as it passes through dense housing areas, and countless articles have proven this. Why are you continuously seen to be supportive of Kidex  then?

Over the last 2 weeks, the Selangor citizens, have been concerned with the new MB appointment, that has kept all of us on our toes. However, with new MB YAB Azmin Ali, he clearly spoke on the new  mission of tackling water contract woes, bible issues, and being anti-Kidex. Regardless of the new MB’s KPI’s , and now that you are on the exco board again, we hope that you will do the right thing, and  be against Kidex.

YB Teng, in the internet world, all your actions, and results are in public domain. We will continue to monitor your actions, and ask for your kind proactive actions to stop Kidex ASAP.  Thank you sir. * Michael Kum is the assistant chairman of the Petaling Jaya Section 14a resident association. ** This is the personal opinion of the writer or organisation and does not necessarily represent the views of Malay Mail Online.
