KL-Singapore is world's busiest international airline route

NEW YORK, May 4 — More than four million travellers flew on about 30,530 flights between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore over the last year, making this air corridor the busiest international route in the world. 

In the latest report from air intelligence company OAG, analysts broke down the busiest highways in the skies revealing that once again, the world's heaviest air traffic is located above Asian countries: 14 of the top 20 routes connect Hong Kong, Singapore, and Osaka to other parts of Asia.

Moreover, the top seven routes on the list are also in Asia. 

For the report, authors looked at data for flights flown between March 2017 and February 2018. 

On average, the 20 busiest international routes have an average of more than 35 daily scheduled airline frequencies. 

The chart-topper, Kuala Lumpur-Singapore, boasts as many as 84 flights a day, with Air Asia serving the largest number of flights. 

The only long-haul route to crack the top 20 list is New York JFK to London Heathrow, which sees an average of 38 daily flights. 

In the category of short-haul, international routes, flights connecting major metropolises between Canada and the US showed the highest density, including New York Laguardia to Toronto, and Chicago to Toronto.  

Similarly, some of the busiest routes in Europe include Dublin to London Heathrow and Amsterdam to London Heathrow. 

Dubai to Kuwait also cracked the top 20 list.
