NEW YORK, Feb 19 ― Cancun is set to be one of the most popular spring destinations this year, while sun seekers can save up to 20 per cent off their travel to Panama City Beach and Miami, Florida, this year compared to last.

Those are among some of the tips coming out of online travel sites which have released their findings on the most popular, budget-friendly and trending destinations this spring.

Here’s a breakdown for travellers of all budgets and ages:

Student-friendly hotspots

Online reservation site Cheapflights has rounded up 25 affordable destination ideas for student breakers that go beyond traditional, booze-fuelled beach holidays. For example, Savannah, Georgia, offers up "Instagram-worthy architecture,” a charming, leafy Historic District, ultra-friendly locals and beaches nearby. Portland, Oregon, offers mountains, craft beer breweries, art galleries, farmers’ markets, cafes and bars for tamer spring break vacation ideas. Trending destinations

Been to Disneyworld, done Universal Studios, and bought T-shirts at both? For travellers looking to shake up their traditional spring break holiday this year, Booking.com has rounded up a list of trending cities based on current bookings:

Affordable destinations

Travellers on a budget, meanwhile, may want to consider saving their holiday for Easter, when they can save up to 58 per cent on hotels and accommodations in Reno, Nevada, or 45 per cent on a trip to Atlantic City, New Jersey, compared to the same period last year, according to Expedia.  A spring break in New Orleans over that same period is also 24 per cent cheaper than the year previous.
