SIA cuts five weekly flights to Jakarta from Dec 1

SINGAPORE, Nov 21 — Singapore Airlines (SIA) will cut five weekly flights between Singapore and Jakarta from December 1 due to runway maintenance works at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

The affected flights are SQ962 and SQ963 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

SIA has been operating 63 flights per week to and from the Indonesian capital since July 2013.

In a media statement released today, the Republic’s flag carrier announced that it has been directed by the Indonesian authorities to cut five flights due runway maintenance works.

It apologised for the inconvenience to customers and said it will contact affected customers to help book them on other flights.

This is the second time in less than two weeks that SIA has had to cancel flights due to works at Jakarta’s main airport.

On November 9, the airline announced it had been forced to delay its thrice-weekly flights linking Singapore, Jakarta and Sydney, despite having received written approvals and secured the necessary airport slots for the November 23 launch. — TODAY
