SUNGAI BESAR, June 16 — The Tourism and Culture Ministry today launched its ‘Homestay App’ to assist tourists in finding registered homestays of their choice anywhere in the country.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said the portal is an initiative by his ministry to protect the interest of tourists.

He said tourists through the portal could also obtain complete information on every registered homestay including rate, location and the activity packages offered.

He said the homestay programme, which was introduced in 1995, had registered 186 homestay clusters nationwide, offering 5,219 rooms by 3,706 operators.

“This portal will also have articles, blogs and news on homestays contributed by tourists.

“Android and iOS applications will also be provided in future to enable tourists to search for further information on homestays using the smartphone,” he said at the launch of the portal at Kampung Sungai Leman, Sungai Nibong here, today. — Bernama
