TOKYO, Aug 1 — The world’s second museum dedicated to Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang will open in Tokyo’s Roppongi shopping and entertainment district in March next year.
But you’ll have to hurry: It’ll only be open for two-and-a-half years, Sony Creative Products Inc, the iconic comic strip’s exclusive agent in Japan told Kyodo News.
The news agency added that the Snoopy Museum Tokyo will exhibit original drawings and early works by Charles M Schulz (1922-2000), the writer and illustrator of Peanuts, among other items.
There will also be a café and museum store on the premises.
Exhibits will be renewed every six months until its closure in September 2018.
It will serve as a branch of the Charles M Schulz Museum and Research Centre, located in Santa Rosa, California, said Sony Creative Products, Kyodo added.
Jean Schulz, the wife of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz, said on the museum’s website, “I’m delighted Snoopy Museum Tokyo will be established in Japan for two and one half years. With its rotating exhibits, the museum will provide visitors who cannot travel to the United States the ability to immerse themselves in the art and life of Charles Schulz.”
