SINGAPORE, Oct 2 — The 2014 World Architecture Festival (WAF) is underway in Singapore, where the industry’s biggest names have gathered to explore the theme of “Architects and the city”.

The three-day festival of talks and keynote speeches looks at the relationship between architecture and the socio-economic and political balance of cities.

Rocco Yim, the founding principal of Rocco Design Associates, Sergey Kuznetsov, the chief architect of Moscow, and Thomas Wright, the executive director of the New York Regional Planning Association, are all on the festival’s billing.  An awards ceremony will also honour the most impressive buildings constructed around the globe this year, with shortlisted projects including structures by Zaha Hadid Architects, Foster+Partners and Mecanoo.

WAF will run October 1-3 in Singapore. — AFP-Relaxnews
