SINGAPORE, May 23 — International SOS has advised travellers to defer non-essential travel to Thai capital Bangkok after the country’s army declared a coup yesterday.
On the same day, a nationwide night-time curfew was imposed from 22:00 to 05:00 hours local time and demonstrators on both sides of the political divide were ordered to leave protest sites.
Eliza Murray, Asia Pacific regional security manager at International SOS, said: “Organisations with local offices in Bangkok should review their business continuity plans and ensure they are able to locate and communicate with all their staff in the country.
“The situation remains unpredictable and requires close monitoring. Keep across developments closely via international news media and local contacts prior to and during your stay,” she said in a statement here.
Regularly updated advisories are being issued to members who are currently in Thailand and for those planning future travel.
