KUALA LUMPUR, May 21 —The Tourism and Culture Ministry is targeting five million visitors for this year’s Kuala Lumpur Festival (KL Fest 2014).
The festival will run from June till August in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2014.
The ministry’s senior deputy secretary-general (Culture), Datuk Abdul Ghaffar A. Tambi said he was confident the target would be achieved as this was the first time the festival was spread over three months.
“Before this, KL Fest was held in July each year from 2005. Last year alone we recorded 4.3 million visitors,” he told reporters after launching the festival here yesterday.
He added that the festival, organised together with the Communication and Multimedia Ministry and Federal Territories Ministry, would continue the main programmes like Festival Orang Asli (June 7-8 ), Festival Ramadan (June 29-July 20) and Festival Muzik which has been rebranded as the Lake Gardens Festival (Aug 16 -17).
KL Fest 2014 opens on June 1 with the Bazar Industri Kreatif programme which will feature talents like musicians, painters and street artists along Jalan Raja here. — Bernama
