BUKIT KAYU HITAM, Jan 13 — Deputy Home Minister, Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar today reminded that the Visa-On-Arrival (VOA) will only be given to Chinese and Indian visitors entering the country by flight from Singapore or Thailand.

He said the conditional approval which had been agreed upon by the Cabinet was effective from this month in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 (VMY 2014) which began on Jan 1.

“Tourists or visitors from these two countries who wish to enter the country through the border or land routes will not be given the VOA,” Wan Junaidi told reporters today.

Speaking after a working visit to the Malaysia/Thailand border, Wan Junaidi said the immigration department at the airports which had been given permission to issue the VOA were at the KL International Airport, the Kuala Lumpur LCCT, the Bayan Lepas Airport in Penang, Senai Airport in Johor Baharu, Kuching Airport in Sarawak and Kota Kinabalu Airport in Sabah.

Also present during his visit were Bukit Kayu Hitam State Assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Zaini Japar, Kedah Immigration Department Director, Fitri Md Hassan and Kedah Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Zaleha Abdul Rahman. — Bernama
