KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — The Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2014 campaign will increase by 5.6 per cent or 475,000 tourists from the United Kingdom vis-a-vis 450,000 British tourists end of this year, Tourism and Culture Ministry said today.

The ministry is participating in the World Travel Market in Docklands, London, from today until Nov 7 to boost its promotional campaign for the VMY 2014.

Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz will open Malaysia's Pavilion at the event and oversee the launch of the double-decker buses to mark the campaign, which is part of the “Come Get the Malaysian experience” campaign.

“These double-decker buses will feature the VMY 2014 besides a picture of the mascot, the “proboscis monkey” and along with the campaign's tagline.

The buses will ply London's key routes until the end of the month,” said Mohamed Nazri in a statement.

The four-day trade event in London is expected to boost arrivals from the United Kingdom, providing a platform for buyers and sellers to liaise with each other and encourage better cooperation and formation of more tourism products and tour packages, particularly for VMY 2014.

The World Travel Market, a leading global event for the tourism industry, is expected to generate more than £2 billion (RM6.27 billion) for the global travel industry this year. — Bernama
