GSTAAD, Aug 21 — The Swiss ski resort town, known as a hotspot for the ultra-rich, is attempting to attract families of more modest means with its “3 generations” promotion.

In its fourth year, the package seems to be a success, as it has been prolonged through mid-December.

Family vacations often come with a staggering price tag, especially when the family includes grandparents, parents and children.

To attract large multi-generational families, twelve hotels in the Swiss village of Gstaad are participating in the fourth edition of the “3 generations” promotion.

And this year, for the first time, the deal is being extended almost to the start of winter, from September 1 to December 15.

When parents pay full price for their accommodations, grandparents pay half price, and children under 16 get their own room for free.

The promotion is applicable on stays of over two nights. Of course, the family must have at least one member of each generation to take advantage of the deal.

The promotion aims to put an end to misconceptions about Gstaad. In spite of its reputation as a glitzy skiing destination for the jet set, the town and surrounding regions can also provide the setting for a more down-to-earth vacation, grounded in authenticity and tradition.

Between mountain hikes and tours of Alpine farms, the region offers a host of activities year-round.

The “3 generations” promotion also applies to the purchase of the GSTAAD easyaccess card, which allows access to public transportation and ski lifts (3 day pass: €29, RM128).

The card also offers discounts on attractions and events in the region.
