SAN FRANCISCO, May 15 ― Action adventure Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire charts highly across Steam, Humble, GamersGate, Fanatical and GOG, the Destiny 2 Season Pass ascends the Humble Store as expansion Warmind arrives, and dark comedy Barry Has A Secret has players hide evidence from homicide detectives.

Welcomed with a 90/100 score on review aggregator Metacritic and Opencritic, and an 89 per cent average from GameRankings, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire turns the traditionally land-based fantasy adventure into a series of island-hopping quests.

Seafaring adventures might be the novelty but it's the game's traditional elements ― combat, story, character and puzzle ― that have been subject to near universal praise.

Though it may top the GOG and Fanatical charts for May 14, 2018, on the Humble store a Spring Sale is in full swing and, while PoE II is the site's fifth best-selling non-discounted product, it's in 27th overall.

One title not buffeted by the Humble sale is Destiny 2, whose Season Pass is the site's top seller.

The pass contains two expansions for 2017's sci-fi shooter and the most recent of them, Warmind, launched on May 8.

Also popular among Humble's non-sale items are Conan Exiles (10th overall), Frostpunk (13th), and Stardew Valley (21st); Conan Exiles graduated from an early access phase on May 8, Frostpunk launched April 24, while Stardew Valley added multiplayer on April 30.

And while Conan Exiles might have been available since February 2017, its release as a final product inspired top-five placings on Steam and GamersGate as well.

Finally, the most popular game on indie specialist Itch.io is the morbidly humorous Barry Has a Secret, in which players grapple with fiddly controls to hide the remains of a murder victim around the suspect's apartment before police detectives notice anything afoot.

Last-person-standing battle royale game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has now been Steam's best-seller for 59 weeks straight.
