SAN FRANCISCO, April 11 — New king of last-man-standing games "PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” continues to dominate download charts, while the first significant expansion to one-year-old space explorer "Stellaris” performs impressively, and a free expansion for "Deus Ex” helps boost the cyberpunk classic during a sale weekend.

In the ascendancy as the latest entry to a growing mass of Battle Royale titles, in which players strive to become each round’s last surviving contestant, "PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” launched March 23 with the credibility of Brendan Greene’s name attached.

As PlayerUnknown, he helped drive the Battle Royale genre in the first place, with custom game modes for "ARMA 2” and "ARMA III” as well as consultancy on "H1Z1” which has since spun out its iteration on the form into "H1Z1: King of the Kill,” also featuring in this week’s Steam chart; "Battlegrounds” holds top spot on Steam and takes first place on the Humble store to boot.

Expansive space exploration game "Stellaris” launched in May 2016, offering players the opportunity to lead their own fleet of colonists, and the "Stellaris: Utopia” upgrade adds massive and spectacular space stations, as well as a number of new government strategies that explore a surprisingly wide range of ethical directions.

While the one-year-old "Stellaris” found itself revived by new content, cyberpunk classic "Deus Ex” was given an even bigger shot in the arm as GOG timed the introduction of the free fan-made upgrade "Deus Ex: Revision” to coincide with a weekend sale on the influential icon, first released in June 2000 and still cited for its influence today.
