SINGAPORE, March 28 — All three mobile operators (MNOs) — M1, Singtel and StarHub — will be shutting down their 2G network services in stages, starting from April 1 and completing it by April 18.

In a joint statement by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the MNOs, existing 2G mobile users are reminded to switch to 3G or 4G handsets by April 1.

Despite migrating to the 3G/4G mobile networks, 2G users will still be able to retain their numbers and subscription plans on the 3G/4G networks at no additional cost and with no re-contract required.

IMDA has also partnered with MNOs to ensure that a variety of handset models at different prices — ranging from simple handsets to feature-rich smartphones — are available to meet various customer needs.

Seniors who wish to learn how to use smartphones can sign up for courses at Silver Infocomm Junctions (SIJ), which are conveniently located island-wide.
