SAN FRANCISCO, Nov 8 — Thirteenth in the core Call of Duty franchise and released the week after Halloween, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare doesn’t appear to be enjoying the best of fortunes on PC.

It’s landed at 4th on the chart for dominant PC digital retailer Steam, behind Civilisation VI (released October 21,) modern perennial Grand Theft Auto V (April 2015 on PC) and Football Manager 2017 (November 4.)

Elsewhere, pre-orders for another glossy action game, the upcoming Dishonoured 2, as well as indie hits Owlboy and Farming Simulator 17 helped push Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare down to seventh on the Humble Store.

Homing in on the UK’s all-formats chart, data firm GfK Chart-Track observed that first week sales of "Infinite Warfare” were down nearly 50per cent on 2015’s Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

Its outer space setting marks a departure from modern or historical Call of Duty titles, and Infinite Warfare was developed for a smaller PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC audience in comparison to 2015’s Black Ops III, which targeted PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as well.

But according to data derived from SteamCharts.com, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare peaked at 15,000 players during its first week on PC; by contrast, Call of Duty: Black Ops III had a high of 37,000 players following its own launch.

The numbers also put Infinite Warfare at less than a tenth of those achieved by recent release Civilisation VI, and at about half of those seen by the smaller studios behind Farming Simulator 17 and Dead by Daylight.

Nonetheless, as far as the UK is concerned, Infinite Warfare remains the second biggest game launch of 2016 to date, says Chart-Track, behind only football title Fifa 17.
