LOS ANGELES, July 6 — The mobile game Pokémon Go is now available on iOS and Android in select countries, reports The Verge.

The Nintendo game is now available to download from Google Play and the iTunes store, however The Verge reports that at the moment it appears to be unavailable for some US customers.

Takashi Mochizuki, tech reporter at The Wall Street Journal, also tweeted that The Pokémon Company is recommending that US and Japan users "please wait for a while” for the app’s official launch in those markets.

The augmented virtual reality game uses your smartphone’s camera and sensors to place Pokémon in the real world. You can then catch the creatures as you travel around your city to train them before sending to battle.

The app is free to download but does contain microtransactions costing US$0.99 (RM4) to US$99.99.

A US$35 wrist-worn wearable is due this month to let you play the game without having to unlock your phone. — AFP-Relaxnews
