LOS ANGELES, Feb 16 — Outdoor adventure Firewatch shook the reign of XCOM 2 on retail download charts for Mac, Linux and PC games yesterday.

Released by debutant studio Campo Santo, a studio made up of veterans from award-winning games The Walking Dead, Mark of the Ninja, BioShock 2 and Ori and the Blind Forest, new game Firewatch sends players deep into a forest park in US state Wyoming.

Someone is tampering with a fire lookout’s tower, and it’s up to the player to find out what’s going on.

The game has been warmly received at review and made available on Mac, Windows PC, Linux and PlayStation 4.

Elsewhere, a Chinese New Year sale on Steam helps keep Grand Theft Auto V prominent. Sega’s sale sees Total War: Attila and Company of Heroes 2 rise up the GamersGate charts, and PuniTy, a homage to Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima collaboration P.T., enjoys further exposure on Itchio.

Another challenge to alien invasion strategy XCOM 2 should arrive next week in the form of prehistoric action game Far Cry Primal, Ubisoft’s latest take on a franchise of exotic power fantasies, and the first to dive back into the past to such an extent.
