Apple increases prices of MacBook, Mac Pro in Malaysia and other countries

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — Apple has announced the increase of the prices of several of its products in Malaysia, Brazil, Norway, New Zealand, Australia, Mexico and Thailand to account for the fluctuation of foreign currency against the US dollar.

The price increase was announced for products including the MacBook, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, and Mac mini.

In Malaysia, the Retina MacBook Pro now starts at RM5,899, compared to its previous price of RM4,769.

Mac Pro prices have increased by as much as RM3,600, from RM13,999 to RM18,599.

Apple has been known to adjust its prices according to currency fluctuations against the US dollar as it reports its earnings in that currency, and the adjustments make earning reports easier and more comprehensible, according to 9to5mac.com.
