‘Floating on air’: More deets on the Lexus Hoverboard (VIDEO)
Malay Mail

LOS ANGELES, July 17 — Calling Marty McFly! Yes, the Lexus Hoverboard is real, and here’s someone who claims to have actually ridden it: test rider, Ross McGouran.

In this new video released by Japanese luxury carmaker, the pro skateboarder says, “It literally feels like I’m starting all over again from the beginning.”

He also compares the hoverboard to regular skateboards and says riding Lexus’ invention is like floating on a cushion of air.

While still only a teaser, more details have emerged about the actual hoverboard itself.

According to Autoblog.com, the “smoke” that you see emanating from below the hoverboard is actually caused by the liquid nitrogen required to keep the board’s insides cool.

The website added that Lexus is using superconductors that will only cause the hoverboard to lift off surfaces that are magnetic — which pretty much nips our dreams of recreating any Hill Valley skirmishes in the bud.

The hoverboard has bamboo decking and a carbon-fibre base, it added.
