SINGAPORE, April 17 — A social media network was launched today to encourage the sharing of best practices worldwide to counter terrorism.

A Facebook page has been set up for the Strategies on Aftercare and Reintegration (SOAR) Network, which was launched at the East Asia Summit Symposium on Religious Rehabilitation and Social Reintegration. The two-day symposium, held at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, ends today.

The platform aims to develop a repository of information, resources, ideas and strategies for efforts in terrorist rehabilitation and social integration. It will be managed by the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (ICPVTR) at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies.

Apart from the ICPVTR, the Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies in Afghanistan and Singapore’s Religious Rehabilitation Group are among organisations that will contribute to the repository.

ICPVTR head Rohan Gunaratna said: “It’s a network that will bring national, regional and global partners together to understand the threat and to respond.” — TODAY
