LOS ANGELES, Dec 18 — With the holiday season fast approaching, Amazon has compiled a list of the 10 most desirable tech devices based on its customers’ wish lists, and it looks as if wearable tech and home automation could prove to be the big sellers this year.

The Peak, the best-looking device that the company has ever built, is also one of the most comprehensive fitness and movement trackers on the market. It can count steps, read heart rate and sweat levels, monitor your sleep, and automatically knows the difference between running, swimming and biking.

Fire HD 6

For the price — US$99 (RM346) — there isn’t a better value-for-money branded tablet out there. It comes in a host of bright colours, is family focused, and despite its low price offers less than sluggish performance. However, you can’t access the Google Play store with it and will have to make do with Amazon’s own apps.

WeMo Mr. Coffee Coffee Maker

Consumers are expected to take their first steps towards home automation this holiday season and it will be on gadgets such as this where the addition of a smartphone app reduces rather than adds complexity. Schedule it to make coffee automatically at set times on set days, and use your phone to check if the coffee’s ready before getting out of bed.

It’s getting hard to keep track of the number of streaming sticks and set top boxes rolling on to the market, and Amazon’s is one of the most comprehensive in terms of features and, unlike the Apple TV and Google’s Android TV, has an open ecosystem of content. And it’s got a growing selection of games.

Possibly the most elegant and understated movement and fitness trackers out there today, the Shine can be clipped to a garment or worn like a pendant. But as well as looking pretty, it’s waterproof up to 50m, has a four-month battery life and can tell the difference between swimming, walking and running.
