SAN FRANCISCO, Aug 9 — Random social networking is on the rise, as the success of a new app called “Fling — Message the World” has confirmed.

Launched this summer, Fling lets users send out a post — be it a text message, video or a photo — that is forwarded to up to 50 random other users.

When “flinging” a message, users have no idea who will receive it or where it will end up.

The idea is that if people like a message they receive they will reply, allowing users to share in each other’s moments and “collaborate with the world”.

Since its launch the free app has already climbed into the top 100 chart on iTunes, with two million daily user sessions reported by Seenit.

The app is an interesting development of the random social networking trend sparked by sites such as Chatroulette and anonymous messaging apps such as the recently launched Whisper. — AFP-Relaxnews
