SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 30 — There are a host of criteria for choosing the tablet that's right for you, but if battery life is top of your list, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 has just been declared the best in CNET's tests.
The affordable Android slate, complete with integrated kickstand, achieved a remarkable 14.2 hours of performance between charges, an hour more than the device in second place — the iPad Air.
However, it is also worth highlighting that the Lenovo tablet has a low resolution screen which will help reduce the strain on battery life.
All of which makes Apple's flagship tablet's performance the more impressive. It managed 13.2 hours in CNET's test, which involves putting a device into airplane mode and playing a looped video of “Toy Story 3” at a resolution of 720p until the device shuts down.
The iPad with its high resolution retina display is sandwiched between two Lenovo devices, with the Yoga Tablet 10managing 12.2 hours before shutting down. Fourth place was taken by Microsoft's Surface 2 (11.6 hours) and the top five is rounded out by the Nexus 7(11.5 hours).
Though low down on the list the result is impressive for two reasons. Firstly the incredible resolution of the screen and second, the tablet's size. Smaller tablets offer their makers less available internal space for a battery.
In sixth and final place in CNET's list is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (8-inch) which offered 10 hours of performance under test conditions. —AFP-Relaxnews
