NEW YORK, Oct 24 — After recently announcing two major updates to its Forerunner GPS sport watch line-up, Garmin has just unveiled a ruggedised wrist-worn device that the company says is inspired by “law enforcement and police special operations.”
Dubbed Tactix, the new watch features an altimeter, barometer, and three-axis compass, in addition to run-of-the-mill watch features, such as a timer and a world clock.
In the US devices will come preloaded with tide data for amphibious data gathering, and all watches will include Jumpmaster software, for airborne use. Plus it’s waterproof to 50 metres and has a night-vision ready green backlight, and it can run up to 50 hours in GPS mode on one charge.
It comes in a “stealth” matte black design sleek enough “to be worn as an everyday timepiece” and tough enough to “withstand even the most extreme elements and situations,” Garmin says.
The Garmin Tactix is expected in stores later this year for US$450 (RM1,424).
