SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 21 — Sources claim that Twitter #Music is underperforming and that the company is heading back to the drawing board.

The app, which draws on music-based activity on Twitter to help users keep track of news and to discover songs before they go mainstream, launched six months ago as an iPhone app. And while its debut in April saw a spike in downloads, it appears that users have lost interest.

According to sources “familiar with the matter” who spoke to All Things D, the app has seen “abysmal” numbers both in iTunes App Store downloads and engagement.

Twitter sees music integration as key to its future success and is busy restructuring its music team, looking to build something that's more complete and better integrated into the social network. — AFP-Relaxnews
