LOS ANGELES, Sept 21 — Hundreds of large-scale stills from video game “Forza Motorsport 5” were lined up alongside an Alabama racetrack to form a circuit-sized zoetrope for “FilmSpeed”, a two-minute reel released in support of November’s racing title.

Still images were taken from an existing gameplay trailer for Xbox One launch title “Forza Motorsport 5”, starring an orange-hued McLaren P1 hybrid, while a 140lb camera rig was bolted onto the rear of a McLaren MP4-12C.

The combination of old and new tech, technical achievement and emotional impact, mirrors the aim of “Forza Motorsport 5”, which is to arrive on November 22, not long before rival manufacturer Sony has “Gran Turismo 6” scheduled for December release not on new competitor PlayStation 4 but on the older PlayStation 3.

“FilmSpeed” director Jeff Zwart was also credited with the reality TV show “GT Academy USA”, which has “Gran Turismo” players apply their skills on the track in a bid to become professional race drivers.
