KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — National squash player S. Sivasangari moved within one win of clinching the Silicon Valley Open 2026 title after reaching the final in Redwood City, California, on Friday.
The third seed fought back from a game down to oust India’s Anahat Singh 5-11, 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 in 37 minutes in a rematch of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games final.
Sivasangari, who retained the women’s singles gold medal at the Asian Games in Japan last month, will determine the title against Egypt’s eighth seed Farida Mohamed in the final later today.
Farida made it to the final as she prevailed against seventh seed and home player Marina Stefanoni 11-3, 4-11, 11-6, 6-11, 11-8.
The victory put the world No. 4 Sivasangari through to her second consecutive final at the tournament, giving her a chance to make amends for last year’s 10-12, 11-4, 4-11, 4-11 defeat to American Olivia Weaver.
The women’s category at the Silicon Valley Open offers total prize money of USD143,500 (about RM585,637). — Bernama
