KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 11 — Malaysian motorcycling fans have been urged to turn up in droves to give their full support to national sensation Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli when he makes his Moto3 home debut at the 2026 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) from Oct 30-Nov 1.
Acknowledging the rider’s exceptional talent, SIC chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif described Hakim Danish’s podium finishes and race victory in his debut season in the world championship as a historic and immensely proud moment.
“I think Hakim Danish has done very, very well this year. For a rookie, we have seen in the past how difficult it is to get on the podium. He has proven himself by securing podium finishes, and to win a race in his first year is absolutely amazing for Danish.
“I think this (year’s Malaysian MotoGP) is also a special because we have Hakim Danish. So, I urge all fans, even those who are not motorsports fans, to come to SIC and support our very own talent, Hakim Danish, who will be competing in the Moto3 category,” he said at the MotoGP 2026 press conference here today.
The talented Terengganu-born rider made history by finishing third at the Italian Grand Prix on June 1 before creating a sensation by winning the Grand Prix of Czechia on June 22.
However, Azhan Shafriman, admitted that the young rider has faced his share of challenges, including fluctuations in performance, but remained confident that Hakim Danish could regain his impressive form for the rest of the season.
“Performance-wise, he has had some ups and downs this year. Hopefully, he will bounce back in the second half of the season and fight strongly in the remaining races,” he added.
Hakim Danish’s outstanding achievements have also sparked a significant buzz, with 80 per cent of tickets for the ‘Hakim Danish Tribune’ and ‘Premier Seat’ categories already sold out.
Commenting on the MotoGP, he said SIC is targeting an attendance of 200,000 spectators and offering free admission to the circuit grounds and surrounding areas on Friday (Oct 30) to encourage fans to arrive early.
He said efforts would also be made to maintain last year’s parking rates, with motorcycles allowed to enter the circuit area.
This year’s race marks Malaysia’s 35th year of involvement in MotoGP since 1991, with SIC serving as the race venue since 1999. — Bernama
